A Brief Introduction to Minnan Science and Technology Institute
Co-established by Fujian Normal University and Philippine overseas Chinese, Minnan Science and Technology Institute is a full-time undergraduate independent college affirmed by the Ministry of Education and approved by The PeopleĄŻs Government of Fujian province. With Mr.Lin Guoduan as its honorary chairman of the board, Mr. Dai Hongda, the noted Philippine Chinese enterpriser, as its chairman of the board, Mr. Chen Lansun who is a famous mathematician of CAS, the director of the subcommittee of Chinese Bio-mathematical Society, and also a doctor tutor as its honorary dean, and professor Huang Guosheng, a doctorial tutor of Fujian Normal university , as its president, the institute practices the system whichis that dean takes responsibility while the board makes decisions. The teaching administration is under the lead of Fujian Normal University which assigns teachers to teach specialized courses.
Taking full advantages of academic and faculty resources of Fujian Normal University, the institute vigorously carries out teaching reforms and academic constructions, aiming at training specialized personnel. For the undergraduate program, it cooperates with Fujian Normal University. Students will have chances to attend lectures by experts and professors, to use the library and laboratory equipment in Fujian Normal University. Students who get required credits will be granted diploma by Minnan Science and Technology Institute of Fujian Normal University, while those who meet the requirements of bachelorĄŻs degree will be granted by Fujian Normal University.
Situated in Kangmei, NanĄŻan, west of Quanzhou, which is famous for its bigger population of returned overseas Chinese and its relatives, the institute covers an area of 300 Mu with a floor space of over 100,000 square meters. Quanzhou is the home of over ten million overseas Chinese, which offers the institute good opportunities to explore new models of running schools and to expand overseas cooperation. Currently, it has arrived at agreements of cooperation with Sunshine Coast University in Australia as well as Versailles University in France. From 2005, we are going to recommend top students to continue their undergraduate or postgraduate programs in Versailles University in France.
