<I>A specialist group of National Ministry of Education gave a special inspection of the

conditions for running a school and teaching.

        The other day,the specialist group of National Ministry of Education, which consisted of Zhang Mingjin, Xu Xiangyun, Wang Mingfu, Yao Lang, Gong Sen,gave a special inspection of the conditions for running a school and teaching. Professor Wang Wending, Vice president of Fujian Normal University and dean of our institute, was personally on a spot.

        The report meeting was held in the afternoon of January 17th. Personnel participating in the meeting were Wang Wending, vice president, Huang Guosheng, dean of College of History of Fujian Normal University, Hong Ziqiang, deputy secretary of Nan’an municipal Committee, Xu Xuming, vice-minister of Nan’an Propaganda department, Dai Kuannan, board chairman of our institute, Dai Xinmin, vice-chairman of the board, Dai Jingxing, assistant of the board chairman, Zhou Yaping, general secretary of our institute, Zeng Huohuan, permanent sub-dean, Lai Zhongquan, deputy secretary, He Ruixin, sub-dean. Vice president Wang Wending hosted the meeting and represented warm welcome to the specialist group on behalf of our university and institute. Vice president Wang Wending and permanent vice-dean Zeng Huohuan made an introduction respectively of our university and institute, including the general situation, the conditions for running a school and teaching, construction of school spirit and style of study.

        In the morning of January 18, the specialist group made an overall and careful survey of our institute, had meetings separately with each administrative department and representatives of teachers and students, and then checked up on archival material as well as laboratory and library.

        The feedback meeting was held in the afternoon of January 18th at Nan’an Grand Hotel. The specialist group held that our institute had attached much importance to teaching, and thought highly of our achievements on student administration. The group also appreciated the enthusiasm of our leading cadre and teachers and the completeness of the documents of teaching administration as well as humane, student and rear service administration. The group was deeply touched by the support from the local government and the enthusiasm of the local overseas Chinese investing in running schools promoted by the love to their county and hometown. Meanwhile, the passion of students to their school also got encouragement and positive appraisal. At the same time, to insure that our institute develops continuously and healthily, the specialist group brought up many valuable opinions and suggestions about our future development, hoping that the board improved the conditions of running a school even farther, made a general design which should be carried out step by step. The specialist group suggested that Fujian Normal University enhance its support and direction for the independent institute and take effective measures to help our institute. The group also believed that our institute should go on with the teaching reform, construction of study style, especially the teaching spirit and teachers, and that we should pay close attention to the students’ employment problems so as to become a first-class with distinguishing feature and influence.

     Vice president Wang Wending represented his heartfelt appreciation for the direction of the specialist group. He pointed out unequivocally that we should take effective measures aiming at our inadequacy, improve teaching facilities, strengthen teaching staff especially in bringing in expert talents in order to improve our teaching level. He also said that we should learn from brother schools and strive to train applied specialized persons of talent with distinguishing features, high quality and level.

 

<II>Secretary of Nan’an municipal committee Chen Qingzong, followed by relative

departments, came to our institute for inspection.

 

        In the afternoon of December 14, secretary Chen Qingzong and his party made an survey of our institute. secretary Chen Qingzong and his party paid a visit to the dinning room, the student activity center, the playground, the riverbank ,the Feihua teaching building, etc. in the company of leaders of our institute, director Su Shixuan and Dai Hongda. After that both sides had a meeting at the conference room. permanent sub-dean professor Zeng Huohuan made a general introduction of the basic developing situation of our institute in recent years and some urgent problemsto be solved. After listening carefully to reports and opinions from relative departments, secretary Chen represented that Minnan Science and Technology Institute Fujian Normal University, which located in Nan’an, was the first full-time regular school, a scenic sight of Kangmei, a base to train economy-promoting talents and also a base of culture and adolescent ideological education. He held that the local relative departments should give all-out support and protection, which is also the implementation of the law of promotingprivate education and the policy of “the Party administrates the talented people”. Meanwhile, Secretary Chen hoped that members of board of trustees and leaders of our institute should make concerted efforts in developing our institute and making it more excellent, distinguished and influential.

        In terms of the problems of how to manage the campus and surroundings, the river embankment, the direct bus from our institute to Quanzhou, the housing of our teaching staff at Quanzhou, especially our requisition of land for the institute’s long-term program, secretary Chen required that the functional departments, based on the principle of solving problem, should bring up corresponding methods as soon as possible after asking for the opinion of our institute .
